Orange (WTNH) - Police tapes have been released from a police car crash in Orange that ended the lives of a young couple and injured a Milford police officer in the process.
The tapes became public after a Freedom of Information request from the Connecticut Post. State Police are still investigating the June 13th accident that took the lives of two 19-year-olds, Ashlie Krakowski and David Servin.
Milford Police officers Jason Anderson and Rick Pisani were
coming back from a call when Anderson's squad car struck the 2008
Mazda, carrying Krakowski and Servin, at the intersection of Boston
Post Road and Dogwood Road in Orange.
Again, who is at fault has yet to be determined.
Servin was pronounced dead at the scene; Krakowski died a little later at the hospital.
The audio from police dispatch revealed the disturbing aftermath of the accident.
Officer: "If you can send rescue in front of Best Buy; [there's] an accident with injuries involving one of our officers."
It doesn't take long for the news to become grim.
Officer: "On a Code Three; there's an ejection from the car."
Officer: "We got one person trapped in the other car. And there is one that was thrown from the car. We definitely need extrication here."
Dispatch: "10-4, How about 65?"
Officer: "Heavy bleeding right now; he's outta the car."
The number "65" refers to Officer Anderson; that's his badge number. Later, it's revealed that Servin is referred to as "34;" that's code for deceased. Anderson also needs medical attention.
Officer: "We got one "34" in the other car, the other one is pretty severe. Uh, Jay's got heavy chest injuries."
Lt. Paul Vance, of the Connecticut State Police, says they are still investigating, noting that accidents like this are very involved, very detailed, and time consuming.
Depending on what investigators find, Officer Anderson could be facing criminal charges.
Anderson suffered minor injuries and was put on clerical detail by the Chief.
