New Haven (WTNH) - November 8th marked the start date for another Restaurant Week in New Haven.

At Foster's they're prepping food at a frenzied pace because they know what they're in for based on two previous restaurant weeks.

"[It's] non-stop work just because we didn't expect it to be such a big explosive hit," said Dave Foster of Foster's Restaurant.

So Foster's is back for more

It's designed to draw folks to downtown New Haven by offering a fixed price lunch and dinner menu at 29 restaurants; more restaurants are taking part this year, including those off the beaten path.

"There's only two restaurants on the water, Sage American Bar and Grill, and Leon's. We're trying to get people to the water as well as Downtown New Haven," said Dave McCoart, owner of Sage American Bar and Grill.

This year lunch is $16.38; priced for the year New Haven was founded. And, $29 for dinner.

The goal: to get folks eating out in a sluggish economy.

"A huge part of it is to get them in here to try the food and to give them a good deal," Foster said.

"We do a soup, a salad, an entree and a dessert; the staff loves it because we pick up a little extra business," McCoart said.

The plan here is to be prepared to serve up over 125 dinners a night.

"Everything has gelled really well. Everything is streamlined. We are prepping hard. We are ready; we are dead on ready," said Foster
