EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Three people were displaced after a fire broke out at a two family house on Main Street in East Haven.
The fire broke out just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the house at 139 Main Street.
Firefighters say the fire broke out on the second floor porch and spread to the attic area.
Officials say it was a difficult fire to fight because the home has multiple roof sections. It was extinguished by 2 a.m. The upper part of the home was extensively damaged.
The home was ruled uninhabitable.
The home's three residents were able to get out safely.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
