Meriden, Conn. (WTNH) - Residents at a Meriden nursing home are being evacuated because of storm-related safety concerns.

The fire department says patients at Cocomo Memorial are being moved due to water that leaked onto an electrical panel there.

Ambulances are on the scene to transport the facility's 84 residents to other locations.

Rain from the storm got into the electrical panel. The city's electrician and the fire marshal declared the building unsafe for the residents.

The main power line to the building was cut off, and it was running on back-up power.

There has been no report of injury.
