NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police pulled a man from the 3rd story ledge of a building in New Haven Monday.
Police said just before 11 a.m., a man in his early 20's threatened to jump from a 3rd floor window at 37 Houston St.
According to police, the man suffers from a mental disorder.
Upon arrival, hostage negotiators decided the best course of action was to speak with the man while other officers attempted to grab him.
When the opportunity arose, officers grabbed the man's legs and torso as he stood on the outside ledge, police said.
Firefighters were able to quickly reach the man by ladder, pinning him outside the building, as officers inside the building smashed the window and pulled the man to safety.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police said the man was taken to an area hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
