WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- DEEP responded to an oil spill in Waterbury Friday.
It happened at Bank St. Officials said oil was discovered leaching into the nearby Naugatuck River late Friday afternoon.
DEEP reports that about 20 gallons of what appears to be older, weathered oil made its way into the rivers.
Booms are being put out to capture and remove any additional product that makes it to the water.
The site was once the location of a coal plant where coal was burned to gas for local heating and lighting.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
