Two injured in Meriden house fire

MERDIEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A firefighters and a resident were hurt in an early morning house fire in Meriden.

Flames were spotted around 3:20 a.m. at a multi-family home on Wilcox Avenue.

It was confined to the attic but there was some smoke and water damage to other parts of the home.

A male resident living on the second floor burned his hands when he tried to put out the fire using buckers of water. He was treated at the scene and refused to be taken to the hospital.

One firefighter's ear was burned even though he was wearing protective gear.  

The home's other residents were able to get out safely.

The cause is under investigation but not considered suspicious.
