Milford, Conn. (WTNH) - People in Milford were among those across the state who spent Sunday reflecting on the life and work of civil rights pioneer Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On Sunday, at city hall, the Links organization held it's 26th annual tribute in King's honor.
Residents from not only Milford, but several other communities throughout southwestern Connecticut were in attendance.
"I think America has begun to realize the dream for which Dr. King died," said Program Director Lillian Holmes, Links Inc. "Hav we reached that Utopian state? No, but each year, each day we strive for that."
"I think without someone like him we wouldn't be able to mesh as well as we would," said Nigel Reid, of Bridgeport, "there would be a lot of turmoil."
The message Sunday was not only the reflection of Dr. King's work, but to be proactive and continue the fight for liberty and equal rights.
