New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - Joshua Komisarjevsky's attorney lost a round in court over a small pin worn on clothing.

Petit family members and friends make it a practice of wearing small heart-shaped pins into court everyday to honor the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and daughters Haley and Michaela.

Joshua Komisarjevsky's attorneys asked Judge Jon Blue to bar them from the courtroom, arguing that they could influence the jury. Judge Blue denied the request.

"I think the defense is picking up on a sense of solidarity among family and friend and it's really just a show of love and support," Petit family friend Gwen O'Donnell said.

The pins were created by the Petit Family Foundation . Family members say they will be wearing those pins until there's a verdict in the case.
