WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- An alderman in Waterbury wants tougher ordinances on dangerous dogs after an elderly woman was attacked.
Alderman Ernest Brunelli wants some extra safeguards, like adding a secondary enclosure gate and increase fines.
In March, two pit bulls escaped from their cage in a neighbor's yard and attacked 88-year-old Lena Poidomani in her front yard.
When police arrived they had to shoot the dogs because they were so aggressive.
The dog's owners got infractions and a fine.
The woman is now recovering.
