UPDATE: The missing teenager was found safe early Tuesday morning in West Haven.

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are searching for a Branford teen who has mild autism.

Police said the 14-year-old boy walked away from his home in the Branford Hills area of town around 7 p.m. Monday.

The boy, Michael, is described as being 5'3" tall, 115-120 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Michael has a speech impediment, communicates freely with people and walks with a "gate."

It is unknown what Michael is wearing for clothing, but police say he may have a brown backpack and a red and white Big Y umbrella.

Anyone with information should call Branford Police at 203-481-4241.
