Pool company offers to help after vandals strike

SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH) -- Hard-earned money went down the drain, as vandals targeted pool owners in Seymour. However, News 8's coverage of the destruction and the impact is leading to some positive results.

The Namco Pool Company saw our story about the vandalism to Don Nowell's pool in Seymour and has offered to help out.

"We said what better way than to recognize how loyal our customers are to us than to come out and help this family," said Stephen Park, CFO Namco.

Namco says they are repairing the pool Wednesday and the Nowell family could be swimming by Thursday.

"I was excited," said Don Nowell, "in disbelief. This kind of stuff doesn't happen. We work hard for what we got and no one really gives us this kind of news."

Not only is the family getting their pool repaired for free, but they also got some free pool toys for their kids.

The Nowell's are grateful they only lost a few days of summer, but the vandals are still out there, and they say they're one of four targeted in the neighborhood.

"Oh I don't think this is an accident," said Judy Cweklinsky, victim.

She discovered her pool in similar shape Monday morning and hopes they catch the criminal.

"What joy is there in slicing somebody's pool other than you're taking the pleasure away from enjoying the Summer," asked Cweklinsky.

It's the same question the Nowell's don't have an answer to, but are relieved there are others willing to step up and help rebuild their paradise.

"Words can't describe how I feel," said Nowell, "it's a big weight off my shoulders, someone's going to help me."
