New Haven (WTNH) - Flights to and from the Washington, D.C. area are being affected by the snow, and as News Channel 8 learned, so are the trains.

Amtrak has canceled trains south of Washington, D.C. Lou Linares of Philadelphia was trying to get out of New Haven's Union Station ahead of the storm.

See how folks in Washington, D.C. are prepping for the storm.

"I want to beat the commuter thing and all that traffic snarl," Lou said. "I rescheduled the train that was leaving later this afternoon to now."

Wei Qu is also from the Philadelphia area and he's ready for winter to be over.

"We had a blizzard back in December and this time we don't know if it'll be the same or worse," he said.

Catherine Finkle of East Haven is also heading to Philly; hopefully she'll make it back in time.

"I haven't changed my plans but I have to be back for school on Monday. Hopefully I won't be stuck down there Sunday," she said.

Three inches or less is expected in Connecticut. Check the Storm Team 8 forecast.
