NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Making something beautiful in the face of tragedy -- that's what folks across the state are doing for Sandy Hook Elementary.
At the Holiday MArt on Chapel Street in New Haven people are crafting beautiful snowflakes so when the kids return to their new schools from holiday break they'll be walking into a winter wonderland full of snowflakes.
It's an effort put on by the Newtown Arts and Cultural Commission and the PTA. Every snowflake will hang in the schools. Each one is finished with an encouraging note. Dozens have been made here, but they're hoping with other efforts kids will get a feeling of support when they walk into their new school.
"We are all thinking of you in some capacity and if this is the small little thing that we can make for them to make them happy and to brighten their day, well then we're going to do it," Jaimee Moxham from Holiday MArt said.
