State Police make armed robbery arrest

Thompson man believed to be the suspect

Thomspson (WTNH) - A man has been arrested in connection to an early morning armed robbery at the Xtra Mart Store on Woodstock Road in Thompson.

Police received an emergency call, shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday, on a report of an armed robbery. The clerk reported that white male, wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark glasses with a colored cloth around his face entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The clerk opened the register and the suspect took off by foot with cash in hand.

Troopers responded to the scene and located a possible suspect in Putnam around 2:45 a.m. After further investigation, police made an arrest of Gregory Marrier, 26, of Thompson. He was processed and held on $100,000 bond.

He is expected in court on January 19th.

No one was injured during the robbery and no further arrests are expected.
