MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A crash on I-91 in Meriden involving a Connecticut state trooper and another car tied up traffic for several hours Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 4:00 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway near exit 16.
The trooper was assisting with a highway construction project when his car was hit from behind and spun around, ending up in the grassy median. The other car suffered severe front end damage.
The trooper, 28-year-old Nicholas Ieraci, and the driver of the car, 21-year-old Devin Wallace, were both taken to Hartford Hospital with significant, but not life threatening injuries.
The left and center lanes of the highway were closed for more than three hours, and traffic was moving on all lanes around 7:40 a.m.
So far, no charges have been filed.
