NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Fundraising t-shirts that were stolen from the New Haven Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen have been returned.
The t-shirts were intended to be used as a fundraiser to buy food to feed the hungry, but they were stolen from a company van.
Diana Richter, the kitchen's executive director, told News 8 on Thursday that she feared the bandits would try to sell the shirts on the street for a quick profit.
However, someone dropped off stolen goods at the soup kitchen Friday morning.
The black t-shirt is a fundraiser for the Motorcycle Ride to End Hunger, which takes place on Sunday, September 9. [Visit www.ridetoendhunger.com to learn more about the ride.]
After the shirts were stolen, Richter said the plan was to use "food" money to print more shirts for the event. Now that money can be put back to a good use.
