New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A lot of hospitalized children will have a special holiday season thanks to an outpouring of love from a group of local students.
Connor Johnson and the other members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of New Haven aren't elves, but their efforts will certainly put smiles on a lot of young faces come Christmas morning.
"We need to fill his sack," said Ellen Good, Yale-New Haven Hospital, "and all of the children that won't be home for the holidays they will receive gifts from Santa."
This is the third year the UNH students have collected toys and money to buy toys.
And this year was their most successful yet. On Monday they delivered 200 games, dolls and toy cars to the Children's Hospital at Yale-New Haven.
"We will basically just collect toys for the kids and other cash donations," said Johnson, "and go out to other stores and buy toys for the kids."
While these are children the students don't know personally, they still want to make sure they have smiles on their faces when Christmas arrives.
"Santa knows where the children are," Good said, "whether they're at home or not, especially in the hospital."
In addition to the toys, student also collected more than $1,500 from folks in West Haven, Orange, and Milford to purchase toys.
