Tweed New Haven Airport to install fences

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says it's working with officials at Tweed New Haven Airport to install fences to enclose the entire airport property, four months after a small Learjet air ambulance struck a deer during takeoff.

The New Haven Register reports that the plane's owner, David Fox, intends to sue the city of New Haven over the Sept. 20 incident. Fox, who owns Toronto-based Fox Flight Service, says the accident has cost him millions of dollars in plane repairs and lost business.

No one was injured in the accident.

Fox questions how secure the airport is without fences around the entire property.

Airport officials say they warned pilots about wildlife issues long before the September accident, and the only unfenced sections of the airport are bordered by water.
