WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH)-- The Wallingford police department has issued a storm update.
The following is their statement:
Town of Wallingford Winter Storm Up-date
Wallingford Public Works is making steady progress working to opening our 240 miles of town roadways. They are fully staffed operating 30 plow trucks, 5 loaders and 2 backhoes. They have made approximately 70% of the roadways EMS accessible. It is anticipated that all roadways will be EMS accessible by early Tuesday afternoon.
The parking ban also remains in effect. We are requesting that if all possible to stay off the roadways so not to impend with the snow removal efforts.
Guardsmen from the Army National Guard remain embedded with the Wallingford Fire Department. The guardsmen who are operating 2 Humvees are working in tandem with public works to get the fire department into less accessible areas of town for medical and other emergencies.
Mayor William Dickinson Jr. anticipates that the Wallingford Town Hall will reopen on Wednesday.
Town schools will remain closed through Tuesday.
As a precaution, residents should verify that home heating equipment and clothes dryer vents are open and free of snow to avoid carbon monoxide build up.
Any town or city officials who would like to submit a storm status update to News 8, can do so by sending them to webproducer@wtnh.com.
