West Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - Folks walking along the boardwalk in West Haven have had some unexpected company lately. A rooster has been spotted and animal control officers can't seem to snatch him up.
“We walk every morning. We come down about 6:30 and walk, and he kind of popped out of the trees over there, big kind of hefty-looking, hairy looking creature," said Karen Healy of West Haven.
The rooster has been in the Savin Rock neighborhood for about two months. Even if people haven't seen him, they have heard him crowing.
"I remember the first time a few of us were walking and we looked around wondering if we were imagining things," said Ellen Steffen of West Haven.
In late June, some people called animal control. An officer spent half an hour chasing the bird, but he wasn't able to nab him.
But the big question is: how did he end up here?
“Well, there’s no farms, so they’re certainly not wandering around unless somebody had one and dropped him off or didn’t want him anymore," Steffen said.
Folks don’t know where he came from, but they just hope he ends up someplace safe.
