West Haven school evacuated for gas leak

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Students and staff at a West Haven school were briefly evacuated due to a gas leak Monday morning.

The incident happened at West Haven High School.

Officials said just before 8:30 a.m., the fire alarm was sounded due to a gas leak outside the building.

Students and staff reported to the rink, pool, and gymnasium until the school for cleared by the West Haven Fire Department.

Approximately 10 minutes later, students and staff returned to the building and their second period class, officials said.
