NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut newspaper is reporting that a Yale University student charged in a deadly crash during tailgating at last year's Yale-Harvard football game has pleaded not guilty.
The New Haven Register reports that 21-year-old Yale senior Brendan Ross pleaded not guilty Friday to negligent homicide.
Authorities say Ross was behind the wheel of a U-Haul truck that sped up as it drove into a parking lot full of tailgaters, hitting three women, including one who died.
Attorney William Dow II, who represents Ross, called the plea a "customary step in the criminal process."
The newspaper says Ross' next appearance in New Haven Superior Court is scheduled for Nov. 2.
