Lisbon, Conn. (WTNH) - No one was hurt, but three cars were destroyed in an early morning car fire in at Lisbon Landing .
Witnesses said the fire spread so quickly no one could move their car to safety.
Report it video and pictures from News 8 viewers show a plume of black smoke and the intensity of the fire.
The fire is believed to have started in one car in the Walmart parking lot and then quickly spread to six other nearby vehicles.
Three cars were completely destroyed, including Kristie Pagan-Figueroa's family van.
"It's different watching someone else's care but when it's your own it's definitely heartbreaking," Pagan-Figueroa said.
She and Sheila Mineau were working at Dunkin Donuts in Walmart when their cars caught fire around 8 a.m.
"It's very tough. You work your whole life just to get things that you want and they can go so quick," Mineau said.
"It started exploding," said witness Lindsey Banker, "there was sparks which I'm guessing the sparks were actually probably gasoline."
"Due to the proximity of one vehicle to another, the heat transfer can be very quick because the intensity is so hot," said Lt. Jim Labonne from the Lisbon Fire Department.
That heat reportedly burned one man who was transported to the hospital when he tried to put out the fire in the Rav 4. Other car owners say there was bleach in that car which was the first to catch fire.
The state fire marshal is investigating.
