Car Crash in Griswold Kills Woman

GRISWOLD, CT (WTNH)-- A Voluntown woman has died after a car crash in Griswold.

Police say Betty Chabotte,67, was leaving the parking lot of the American Polish Club on 670 Voluntown Road when she pulled out directly in front of an oncoming pickup truck.

Kelly Choi, 40, of Uncasville, was driving the pickup truck that hit Chabotte's sedan. Police say both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Chabotte was taken by ambulance to Backus Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Choi was also treated at Backus Hospital and later released.

The accident is still under investigation. Police urge anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Tpr. Siart of the Montville barracks at 860-848-6500.
