Car rolls down embankment, 4 hospitalized

Old Lyme, Conn. (WTNH) -- Four people were hospitalized after their vehicle went off the highway and rolled down an embankment in Old Lyme Sunday.

The accident occurred near Exit 70, on I-95 Southbound.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling on I-95S, operating in the left lane of two lanes, when it swerved from the left lane into the right lane. The vehicle proceeded to skid off the road and down an embankment.

The vehicle then rolled over repeatedly, striking a culvert, ditch, and trees before coming to rest.

All four occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries in the crash.

The driver and a rear passenger were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital via Lifestar. The other two passengers were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The accident is under investigation.
