COLCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) -- Three people are displaced after a fire damaged their Colchester home and killed a cat.
It happened at a home on Chestnut Hill Road.
The fire was reported at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday morning and officials say the were able to extinguish the flames within 20 minutes of arriving on the scene.
The Red Cross is assisting the three people with temporary housing.
There were also 10 cats inside the home. One of the cats died in the fire. The remaining nine received medical treatment and were taken to animal control in Montville.
No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
