Connecticut sub base cancels summer festival

GROTON, Conn. (AP) — The Naval Submarine Base in Groton has canceled its annual Navy and community festival, after an entertainment act fell through and it said it had trouble contracting with a carnival company.

The 23rd annual Subfest had been scheduled for June 28 to July 1.

Bob Kydd, the base's recreation director, said the Naval base is looking into scheduling a concert in the future and may combine it with a fireworks show usually shown during Subfest.
