NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — A Navy veteran who was part of the first generation of black submariners is talking with U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney for the Library of Congress's Veterans History Project.
James Mosley of Waterford is doing the interview Thursday morning at New London High School.
Courtney's office says Mosley was the first African-American medical corpsman to graduate from the Naval Nuclear Power Engineering School. He served for 20 years on active duty and 10 years in the reserves.
After retiring from the military, he worked for 20 years as a buyer specialist in the purchasing department at Electric Boat in Groton.
