NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A New London dad cashed in a winning $200,000 lotto ticket on Wednesday.

David Peters recently made a quick stop to pick up a bag of chips for his daughter's lunch when he purchased a "$200,000 High Stakes Casino" Instant Game ticket.

Peters told Lottery officials, "When I scratched it, and saw I had a number match, I thought I won $200. Then I read underneath the prize amount and saw it was for $200,000!"

Peters immediately drove the to CT Lottery headquarters to accept his prize check of $136,606, the value after taxes.

"I'm going to pay some bills and put the rest away for a rainy day," he said.

One Stop Convenience, located at 720 Norwich Road in Plainfield, will receive a $2,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling Peters the winning ticket.
