MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut developer says he's trying to secure funding to build an upscale outlet mall with room for 85 shops at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Sheldon Gordon is the chairman of Greenwich-based Sheldon Group Holdings. He told The Day of New London that the mall would be 320,000 square feet and called The Outlet Shoppes at Foxwoods.
Gordon has developed a host of retail projects including The Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas, The Pier Shops at Caesars in Atlantic City, The Beverly Center in Los Angeles and The Shops at Mohegan Sun.
Foxwoods officials declined to comment on the mall proposal. They say the eastern Connecticut casino will announce property development and expansion plans on Feb. 15, which is the 20th anniversary of Foxwoods' opening.
