Elderly woman hospitalized after fire

New London, Conn. (WTNH) - An elderly woman was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in a New London home Sunday.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. at 18 Holly Terrace.

When fire crews arrived on the scene there was fire blowing out of the living room.

Fire officials said one crew stayed outside to battle and contain the blaze, while another crew attempted to rescue the woman still inside.

The rescue crew located the woman in the dining room and pulled her out of the home.

The woman was taken the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The fire is under investigation.
