NORWICH, Conn. (AP) — A former Norwich Free Academy student who says security officers beat her is suing the school.
The Day of New London reports that former student Kalona Brown said she was attending class when she was grabbed, held and forced to the ground in May 2010. She says she was kicked, kneed and otherwise battered by members of the school's security staff.
The lawsuit, which was filed in New London Superior Court, says Brown suffered several injuries.
Charles E. Vermette Jr., an Avon lawyer who represents the Norwich Free Academy and campus safety director Kevin Rodino, would not comment on Monday when contacted by the newspaper.
David Klein, the academy's head of school, would not comment. But he said the school is confident in the work by campus security.
