SALEM, Conn. (WTNH) -- A crane was brought in to remove a collapsed canopy at a Salem gas station damaged during Monday's thunderstorms.
The heavy rains and high winds caused the canopy to partially collapse over the gas pumps.
No one was injured.
Large steel supports were placed next to each pump to protect them in case the damaged structure came down.
"The crane has just arrived," said Jerry Collett, operations manager. "We're going to get this thing picked up, on the ground, get everything cleaned up, and get back open.
Collett said it will take approximately six to eight weeks to get a new canopy for it.
The store is hoping to reopen on Wednesday.
