Stonington, Conn. (WTNH) - For some people, walking in one part of Stonington is becoming dangerous now that a Red-tailed Hawk has been on the attack.
Stonington resident Kathy Baker, knows firsthand, about the dangers of the hawk.
"Just flew down and hit me in the head," she said.
The hawk gave her some serious scratches. The town's animal control officer was alerted about the flying fiend by the hospital which treated her.
"They can be dangerous," said Animal Control Officer Rae-Jean Davis of Stonington. "They have very sharp talons."
And, from there, Davis learned the hawk has been harassing residents since last summer.
"The thing came right down and took his head phones right off," said Douglas Grimshaw of Stonington.
Kids and adults, alike, have been a target for attack.
Baker was attacked on Tuesday.
The only Red-tailed Hawks News Channel 8 saw were at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center in Mystic which, along with the DEP, is working with Stonington Police to investigate their odd and dangerous behavior.
"We're coordinating with them to find out what the next step is to resolve the issue," said Captain Jerry Desmond of the Stonington Police Department.
