Man falls 45 feet from scaffolding

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man fell 45 feet from scaffolding Monday afternoon, fire department officials said.

Police say that the man, Nate Sutera, 46, was working on a house at 36 Hempstead Street when he fell 45 feet to the ground.

Sutera was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Later in the day, he was airlifted to Yale-New Haven Hospital via LifeStar for further treatment.

The extent of his injuries remains unclear.

Police conducted an initial investigation into the incident and the case has been referred to OSHA for possible follow-up.

The exact cause of the fall remains unknown.
