GROTON, Conn. (AP) — An attack submarine is returning to Groton following a six-month deployment that included stops in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Spain.

The USS Pittsburgh is due back at the Naval Submarine Base on Wednesday.

The Navy says the Los Angeles-class attack submarine traveled more than 29,000 miles during the deployment that began in December.

The sub was commissioned in 1985. It is the fourth American warship to be named for the city of Pittsburgh.
