STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- With St. Patrick's Day just two days away one Stonington brewer has something special on tap.

"Welcome to the Beer'd Brewing Company."

An accountant by day and beer brewer by night, weekend, and any other free moment he has.

"So the first step in brewing beer is actually cracking your malted barley open," said Aaren Simoncini.

Beer'd Brewing in the Velvet Mill in Stonington is Simoncini's creation. The logo looks familiar.

"This is what we ended up with. So it's you. Yup, it's me and we can never shave the beard we know that."

He started out as a home brewer and is now working towards making a living out of his passion. Whisker'd Whit is always on tap.

"I use some Curacao Orange peel in the boil to add a nice citrus flavor, as well as some Saaz hops that compliment that very well," said Simoncini.

That's a Belgian Ale, and for St. Patrick's Day there's a special brew.

Midnight Oil is inspired by Simoncini's better half, that's what he calls her.

"She loves dark beers," he said. "And always used to love Guinness, so I wanted to give a nice alternative."

It's an oatmeal stout and yes, she approves.

"Anything with porters and stouts I'm really happy with," said Precious Putnam, Beer'd Brewing. "I like the full body, I love the chocolate coffee. That's definitely my palate."

"So he did a good job," asked News 8's Tina Detelj.

"Oh yes, yes, I got to help with that one," Putnam said.

The Midnight Oil will be on tap until it's sold out. Next they have a double IPA brewing for the spring.
