Wallingford, Conn. (WTNH) - A New London teacher is facing sex assault charges after meeting up with a juvenile in a chat room.

Jeffrey Francis, 23, of Durham, was arrested by the Wallingford police department and charged with two counts of second degree sex assault and risk of injury to a minor. He is a teacher at the Interdistrict School for the Arts and Communication in New London.

Police say Francis met the juvenile in a social networking chat site in April of 2010 and that he opened up a Facebook account under a pseudonym with the sole purpose of communicating with the juvenile. By January of 2011, Francis and the juvenile began meeting in person.

Francis is being held on a $100,000 bond.

We're still waiting to hear from the school.
