NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- A local business is "going pink" in a big way. The Norwich restaurant recently installed a huge banner, just in time for October, which is breast cancer awareness month.
The Harp & Dragon hung a 3,000 square foot banner stating "We Support You."
"Everyone out there in the community has been touched in one way or anther by cancer itself and breast cancer especially," said Scott Capano, Harp & Dragon. "We all know someone."
The banner cost Capano about $3,600: a price he gladly pays to bring attention to the cause. His staff is also serving up support for Breast Cancer Research. On October 24th workers will donate all their tips which will be matched by the bar.
Cold, hard, and refreshing, but most of all pink; for every Mike's Hard pink lemonade sold at the Harp & Dragon during the month of October the bar is going to donate $1 to the Terry Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation. It's kind of a double whammy in a good way. On the bottle there is a pink ribbon and that's because Mike's Hard Lemonade is also supporting breast cancer research.
All together Capano hopes to raise $5,000 to support survivors and he hopes the banner will let everyone know about the effort.
"We wanted to make a statement," said Capano. "It's a very important cause."
It's so important the banner will be hung next October and every other one after that as the effort continues for years to come.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
