Norwich woman found dead in driveway

NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Norwich woman was found dead in her driveway Tuesday afternoon.

Around 2:50 p.m. Norwich police and East Great Plains Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a woman struck by a car in the driveway of 6 Meadow Lane.

Upon arrival officials located Sylvia Welling, 80, unresponsive near her 2010 Acura, TL.

Welling, who was found by a neighbor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the initial investigation indicates that Welling, who lives at 6 Meadow Lane, was the operator and only occupant of the car at the time of the incident.

The incident appears to be an accident, however the investigation is ongoing.
