NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — Leaders of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation are telling members that an FBI probe on the reservation is targeting individuals and not the tribe itself.

An email sent by the tribal council and reported by The Day of New London says the council is aware of a federal inquiry into "the alleged activities of several individual Tribal Members."

The FBI and the office of the U.S. attorney for Connecticut have declined to comment on the investigation.

The Pequots own and operate the Foxwoods Resort Casino. In the email, the council says the tribal government and the casino are not targets of the investigation. It says the council has cooperated fully with the investigation and operations will continue without interruption.

Tribal officials have not responded to requests for comment.
