GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- State police are continuing their investigation into the suspicious death of a Ledyard woman after her body was found in Bluff Point State Park.

The body of Tricia Beattie, 36, was found in the water at the state park in Groton on Saturday afternoon.

On Monday, the State Medical Examiner conducted a post mortem examination, but said the cause of death is "pending further studies."

Police say Beattie was last seen around 1 a.m. Saturday morning near Route 12 in Gales Ferry.

For a time, police were looking for her black 2006 KIA Optima, but the car has since been found in Groton.

Police are asking that anyone who spoke with or saw Beattie on Friday, the day before her death, to call them at 860-848-6500.
