GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A boat wreck in the Mystic River left several people missing in the water, witnesses told News 8.
Nine out of ten people have been found, but one adult woman remains missing. The search began shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday.
A witness says that a boat was split in half at the mouth of the Mystic River. Ambulance, fire department and dive teams responded in the vicinity of Noank Shipyard.
The Coast Guard confirmed the wreck and said that it happened near Buoy #4 at Fisher's Island.
Fire Chief Ken Richards described the vessel as a 50-foot powerboat.
The search and rescue effort is ongoing.
