GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- An elderly man was seriously injured by a small dog on Tuesday, police say.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, police, Animal Control and paramedics responded to 140 South Road in Groton, for the report of a dog attack.

A man in his 70's was suffering from serious physical injuries, as the result of a dog attack. The man was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment.

On scene, a small dog was found to also be suffering injuries from a dog attack. The dog is in critical condition at Companion Animal Hospital.

Police and Animal Control officials are investigating the incident.

It is not completely clear if the small dog attacked the man, or if another dog was involved.
