Son of Conn. woman in murder-suicide serving time

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — A son of the woman police say killed two of her grandsons in a Connecticut murder-suicide is serving a prison sentence for a 2008 murder.

Christopher Allen is serving a 32-year prison sentence for felony murder in the stabbing death of Kyle Sheets on a boat in Mystic.

Police said Allen and another person charged in the case boarded the boat to steal money and drugs in September 2008, and Allen stabbed Sheets when a struggle ensued.

The New London Superior Court's public defender's office confirms Allen is the son of Debra Denison.

State police say the 47-year-old Denison shot 2-year-old Alton Perry and 6-month-old Ashton Perry on Tuesday before turning the gun on herself. Relatives said Denison had struggled with mental health problems.

Allen is the boys' uncle.
