NEW LONDON Cty, Conn. (WTNH) - Whitney Houston's ex-husband, Bobby Brown is scheduled to perform at Mohegan Sun Arena several hours after he is expected to attend Houston's funeral in New Jersey.
Some wonder if Brown is going to cancel his performance. If he does, the show will go on with a performance by New Edition.
"We're told that he's taking a private jet to be here and to make the concert. I think he rejoined the tour a few days ago," said Tom Cantone of Mohegan Sun.
Saturday's show begins hours after Brown is expected to attend funeral services.
The celebrated singer is now being mourned by many, including those who plan to see New Edition at Mohegan Sun Saturday night. The tragic circumstances have increased interest in the concert which is now sold out.
"I was hoping that he'd be there for his daughter, so that's most important," said Joe Coleman of Norwich.
Some folks who will be attending the concert said they understand if Brown doesn't make it.
"Would be nice to see him, but he has to be there for the family," said Radiah Munir of Norwich.
Outside the entrance to Mohegan Sun Arena, folks weighed in on whether or not Brown will be there.
"I think he will pay the respects, but because they were separated for a while, I think he probably will show up, that's my opinion. I think he'll be here," said Maria Giordano and Nancy DiRienzo, both of Ansonia.
"I don't know if he'll show up. I really hope he doesn't because at this point he really needs to be with Bobby Christina," said Darlena Egolum of West Haven.
Folks agree that if Brown does show up at Mohegan Sun on Saturday night, he will somehow pay tribute to his ex-wife.
