East Lyme (WTNH) - Three years after she was hospitalized from a serious bicycle accident, an East Lyme woman has finished the 90-mile Livestrong Challenge bicycle ride with champion cyclist Lance Armstrong.
According to The Day, Christine Richards and her close friend, Jen Scharbach of Norwich, rode as part of a team that raced more than $260,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which is dedicated to fighting cancer.
Richards says her goal was just to finish the course, which she did in five hours. She was badly injured nearly three years ago when she broke her spine, collarbone and several other bones in a bike accident.
Richards says just finishing the Livestrong race is a milestone, and she plans to keep riding.
