MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) -- This is the fifth year Marie Tyler Wiley has offered free weddings on Valentine's day. She loves what she does and just couldn't take money for doing it on this day.
"You get out of marriage what you put into it," said Wiley.
Some free advice to go along with the free weddings. A passion for Marie Tyler Wiley who eloped with her husband 20 years ago.
"It was completely unromantic so I live vicariously through my couples. I give them the wedding I always wanted," said Wiley, Justice of the Peace.
Diane and Carlos are among several couples to walk down this aisle at the Meeting House in Olde Mistick Village today and there's no cold feet here.
"I know exactly what I'm getting myself into," said Carlos Hernandez.
"I'm just happy and excited and saying it's about time," said Diane Hernandez.
Because each couple is unique there are actually five different ceremonies you can choose from.
And now to the fun part as Marie says.
"And Carlos do you take Diane to be your beautiful bride," asked Wiley.
"I do," said Carlos.
After the vows and the rings they bought just last night are exchanged...
"It is my honor and pleasure to now pronounce you husband and wife. Carlos you may kiss your beautiful bride," said Wiley.
A day to remember for each couple and for this justice of the peace who does this to help out those just starting out and to celebrate what Valentine's day is all about.
"Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Hernandez. Let the celebration begin, you're married," said Wiley.
If you see this story and you say hey, that is a great idea, be assured Marie Tyler Wiley will be back at Olde Mistick Village next Valentine's day and she's hoping more people will show up.
