The former Massachusetts police chief charged in the accidental shooting death of an 8-year-old Connecticut boy at a gun show has made his first court appearance.
Edward Fleury did not speak at a pretrial hearing on Friday.

His lawyers and Hampden District Attorney William Bennett told the judge at the brief hearing that they had filed their reports and there were no matters they needed to discuss.

The Republican of Springfield says the defense lawyers and Bennett then went to the district attorney's office without comment.

The former Pelham chief has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Christopher Bizilj of Ashford, Conn. The boy accidentally shot himself in the head with an Uzi at the show in Westfield in October.
